Paige L., BSN
Why do you love working in home health?
“I love being able to spend one-on-one time with patients, not being pulled in so many directions at once like in a hospital setting. My favorite patient was a sweet lady who had broken her hip. I got to walk her through her post-op care during the start of COVID, all the way back to her prior level of independence: laughing and smiling back home.”

Why do you love working in home health?
“As a volunteer in high school, I had a Hospice patient who was the sweetest man. He had an amazing view on life; constantly talked about the full life he lived and the contentment he felt at the end. He encouraged me to take risks and further my education.”

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST
Dorre Y., OTD
Why do you love working in home health?
“The patient impacted me the most was a young woman who, with her husband, had moved away from their hometown and extended family. Her new home was near shops and restaurants, but she was no longer able to get out on her own. She had spent much of the past year alone and in bed, as her husband worked during the day and she could not leave the house without him. It was the end of a long day for me and I was preoccupied with my own worry as I began the evaluation process. Together, we strategized how she was going to reclaim her independence. Together, we made a plan for her physical health as well as her emotional and spiritual well-being. We laughed, we cried, we hugged when I left. The gift she gave me was this: Though times may be tough, it is the connections we build with each other that matter most. Together we found hope.”

PHYSICAL THERAPIST
Jordan T., DPT
Why do you love working in home health?
“I love getting to know patients on a more personal level by working with them in their own dwelling. It allows us to practice the exact tasks at home that are difficult. One of the most memorable moments for me is repeated: when a patient is able to walk into a new area after being bedridden for some time. To see their excitement is one of the most rewarding feelings I get as a physical therapist.”
Where are you from?
I claim Texas but I was born in California. I have also lived in Maryland, Tennessee, and Egypt.
